please allow me to introduce myself
Moone is possessed by a demon, from one of his previous adventures- this particular demon taking physical form as a hemorrhoid. I'm going back and inserting him (the hemorrhoid) into the book. Having such an obvious weird and humorous detail serves a couple purposes:
- it marks the book more clearly as comic from the beginning (the idea was to write it mostly "straight," and go back and add the funny; this is the beginning of that.)
- it gives me a method whereby the reptilian Xemf can be identified, with the hemorrhoid recognizing it when it reveals itself
I got the idea that Moone would have such a hemorrhoid, about half a year ago when I had a hemorrhoid myself, and thought, something along the lines of, this hemorrhoid is a literal demon, possessing me in my large intestine. Wait. Demon hemorrhoid? Man that would be a great thing for Moone to have!
I didn't mention it before, because it was just a fun bit that I had but didn't really do anything in the story- it was only today that I realized that it would serve as the perfect way, in-universe, that we could identify the character ShapeShifter!Cloud as being one and the same as the character Xemf. Obviously these two have had a history of some sort, and so here the hemorrhoid could recognize Xemf and sort of go, you!!, or something.
Not sure what to name this character?; man Kissifer is such a great name but I'm not sure anybody understands my '80s kid show reference; I hope to do something similar with this one maybe. Kissifer and this demon probably also have a history as well, and so we could bring that up whenever the two are in the same scene together.
HIMorrhoid?
Part 13, written day 16, mentions Moone clenching his sphincter- mention something about the demon grumbling when he does that.
something completely different
Also, I was thinking today about the dog Laelaps, and the Cadmean Vixen? One destined to catch all quarry, one destined to never be caught. Somehow work references to that into the narrative, with the boon/bane stuff going on. Zeus was forced to turn them both to stone, and, hey, we visit the time of Greek myth in the book, maybe we find a way to get to see that part, and have it be the resolution of some plotline, or thematic bit.
